State Department approves possible $24.3 billion Saudi F-35 sale

The State Department approved a possible $24.3 billion foreign military sale to Saudi Arabia involving 48 F-35 fighter jets, 49 engines and related equipment and support.

The Department said the proposed sale would strengthen Saudi Arabia’s homeland defense and interoperability with U.S. And regional forces. Lockheed Martin and Pratt & Whitney would be the principal contractors, and the sale would not affect U.S. Defense readiness, according to the determination.
