Storm damage closes Lake Lansing Park South indefinitely

Lake Lansing Park South is closed until further notice after Thursday’s storms toppled dozens of trees and damaged part of the park’s main shelter. The damaged section cannot be used for the rest of the season, and visitors are being asked to stay away while crews clear the grounds and assess conditions.

Trees and structural damage were reported across northern Ingham County, including areas around East Lansing, Okemos, Haslett, Williamston, Mason, Stockbridge and Dansville. Officials said most damage appeared to result from straight-line winds exceeding 65 mph. No tornado had been confirmed in mid-Michigan as of late Friday morning; other county parks remained open, including the park’s north location.
