Supreme Court ruling clears path for Trump mail-voting order

The Supreme Court’s ruling has allowed federal agencies to continue preparing parts of President Donald Trump’s mail-voting order, including ballot-mail standards and efforts to compile citizenship lists. States challenging the order must show concrete or sufficiently imminent harm before seeking further court action.

The Postal Service has finalized a rule requiring standardized ballot envelopes, tracking barcodes and use of a federal voter-identification portal. A separate injunction currently blocks implementation, and the agency has said it will not apply the rule for the midterm elections unless the litigation is resolved. The White House has not detailed which provisions it plans to implement or when.
