Trump highlights $3.7 billion submarine-parts factory plan in Maryland
President Donald Trump on Tuesday promoted Anduril’s $3.7 billion plan to build components for nuclear-powered submarines at a shipyard in Baltimore County, Maryland. The project is expected to create 3,100 direct jobs, with several thousand more indirect jobs supported.
Administration officials said the government would commit $2.9 billion by purchasing products made at the facility. Trump said the deal would give U.S. taxpayers a 40% stake in the shipyard as the administration seeks to expand U.S. shipbuilding capacity. Maryland Gov. Wes Moore said the project could potentially create the most jobs in state history; his spokesman said Moore was blocked from speaking at the event, while the White House said he had been invited.
