Trump says he’s looking at opening US military base in Venezuela
President Donald Trump announced on Thursday that he is considering opening a U.S. Military base in Venezuela, citing strong relations and oil deals that could fill national strategic reserves at low cost.
He made the remarks as he departed the White House en route to Texas and Oklahoma, two Republican strongholds, a month before the November midterm elections, and noted that he won all of them by a lot.
He will appear with Texas Senate nominee Ken Paxton at the Peterbilt Motors factory in Denton, Texas, north of Dallas, and plans to endorse in the 2028 Republican presidential primary, criticizing Democrats for lacking a bench of candidates and pledging to pardon many aides before the end of his administration.
