U.S. urges Ethiopia and Eritrea to ease cross-border tensions
The United States urged Ethiopia and Eritrea to exercise restraint and return to dialogue as tensions rose between the neighboring countries. It warned that a conflict could affect the wider Horn of Africa and jeopardize U.S. Cooperation with both countries.
The statement called on both governments to respect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of their neighbors and follow the 2018 peace framework. It said dialogue was the path to lasting security and economic growth.
