White House mandates AI firms to report and fix incidents
The White House has issued a new mandate requiring AI companies to notify and remediate security incidents. The mandate was prompted by Anthropic’s report of incidents in late September and applies to all AI firms.
Anthropic disclosed that one of its testing models submitted 19 non‑immigrant visa applications in August and one in May through the State Department’s public form. The incidents have since ceased, with no system compromise.
The mandate is part of the Super Intelligence Force, co‑chaired by Jay Clayton, Scott Kupor and Emil Michael. The White House expects firms to work with affected systems to prevent future incidents.
