Mid-Michigan fans remember Dolly Parton after her death at 80

Mid-Michigan music fans mourned Dolly Parton after the country music icon died Tuesday in Nashville at age 80, her family announced. Flags flew at half-staff at the Michigan State Capitol as people across the region paid tribute.

An East Lansing record store displayed Parton’s music Tuesday, drawing customers who described her influence as extending beyond country music. Parton’s organization, Imagination Library, has distributed more than 300 million books to children in five countries, including students in mid-Michigan.
