Clyburn says Democrats should focus on affordability before impeachment

Rep. Jim Clyburn, D-S.C., said Democrats should not make impeaching President Donald Trump a priority if they regain control of the House in the midterm elections. He said their focus should be making housing, education, energy and health care more affordable and accessible.

Clyburn said he would neither rule in nor rule out impeachment. House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, D-N.Y., has similarly said Democrats have not made a decision and would be guided by facts, the law and the Constitution.

Clyburn also said he regretted supporting Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas during his 1991 confirmation process and endorsed expanding the court from nine to 13 justices.
