DSA program calls for shifting federal power toward Congress

The Democratic Socialists of America’s 2026 “Workers Deserve More” program calls for replacing the presidency and Supreme Court with an executive and judiciary chosen by and subordinate to Congress.

The proposal marks a shift from DSA’s 2025 program, which called for electing the president by national popular vote and reducing the Supreme Court’s power. The program also calls for housing for all, a Green New Deal and public ownership of the largest corporations and essential industries.
