Freedom Fuel opens second Michigan station as pump prices climb

Freedom Fuel Network has opened its second Michigan gas station in Highland Park, weeks after launching its first location on Detroit’s east side. The network, publicly backed by President Donald Trump, has drawn attention for pricing fuel below nearby competitors.

The Detroit station listed regular gasoline at $3.99 a gallon on Sept. 24, up from $3.47 when it opened in early September. Diesel was priced at $4.57, while nearby stations charged more than $6. The parent company connected to Freedom Fuel has also been named in a federal lawsuit over unpaid fuel invoices.
