Latino voters favor Democrats for Congress as Trump approval falls
A new NBC News and Telemundo poll found President Donald Trump’s approval at 27% among Latino voters. Two-thirds said his administration’s deportation policies have gone too far, while 74% disapproved of his handling of the economy and 78% disapproved of his handling of the cost of living.
Latino voters preferred a Democratic-controlled Congress by 59% to 35%, a 24-point lead. The poll, conducted Sept. 21-28, found nearly one-fifth of Latino voters who supported Trump in 2024 now do not prefer Republican control of Congress.
Inflation and the cost of living ranked as the top issue for 33% of respondents, and 63% said their family income was falling behind living costs. The poll’s findings may affect competitive midterm races in districts with sizable Latino populations, though voters’ preferences vary across the country.
