Man was fatally shot by Lansing police after armed confrontation

Lansing police shot and killed an armed man early Wednesday after responding to a report that he was banging on doors and windows of homes in the 600 block of East Jolly Road. Police Chief Rob Backus said officers tried to use a Taser before the man fled, turned toward them and pointed his gun. No one else was injured.

Michigan State Police took over the investigation. After its review, findings will go to the local prosecutor’s office or the state attorney general’s office for further review.
