Man dies following officer-involved shooting on Jolly Road in Lansing

A man died following an officer‑involved shooting on Jolly Road in Lansing early Wednesday morning. Police responded to the 600 block of Jolly Road, just east of Cedar Street, around 4:30 a.m. For reports of a man banging on doors and windows while armed with a handgun.

The incident was investigated by the Lansing Police Department, East Lansing Police Department and Ingham County Sheriff’s Office, with the investigation now turned over to the Michigan State Police. Officers established a perimeter around the area with crime‑scene tape and an evidence tent, and police have asked residents to avoid the area while the investigation continues. No residents or officers were injured, and police said there is no current threat to the public.
