Markets raise odds of a Federal Reserve rate increase this month

Traders have raised the odds that the Federal Reserve will increase interest rates at its Sept. 15-16 meeting. CME Group data showed a 70% probability, up from 37% a week earlier.

A prediction-market contract also put the chance of a quarter-point increase at 60%, compared with 30% before a hawkish speech by Fed official Kevin Warsh. U.S. Treasury yields have risen, with the 10-year yield reaching 4.8% Wednesday amid concerns about inflation, government debt and corporate borrowing demand.
