Michigan lowers Reconnect age to 21, expanding tuition aid access

Michiganders ages 21 to 24 can now apply for Michigan Reconnect, a program that helps adults without college degrees attend community or Tribal college at little to no cost.

The expansion lowers the eligibility age from 25 to 21 and is backed by a $25 million ongoing investment in the fiscal year 2027 education budget. Nearly 20,000 Michiganders have graduated from the program.

Applicants can seek tuition assistance for associate degrees or skills certificates and receive free one-on-one help from Reconnect Navigators. More information and applications are available through the state’s Michigan Reconnect program.
