European bank opens trading accounts to AI assistants with customer approval

Scalable Capital is allowing European customers to connect their investment accounts to AI assistants including ChatGPT, Claude and Grok. Through the system, users can analyze portfolios, create savings plans and prepare trades using prompts.

Customers must approve trades and savings plans before execution, and the system cannot make payments or withdraw money. The platform says it uses the same core security protocols as the bank’s existing applications.

A study cited in the report found Claude beat human players in 76% of roughly 200 simulated sessions, while ChatGPT did so in 63%. Researchers also found the AI systems generally took too much risk when deciding how much money to invest.
