Michigan poll finds AIPAC viewed less favorably than NRA, Trump

A new poll of Michigan voters found the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) is viewed less favorably than both the National Rifle Association and President Donald Trump. The survey, conducted by Progress Michigan and Public Policy Polling, found more than half of Michiganders hold an unfavorable opinion of AIPAC, while about one in five voters said they view the group favorably.

By comparison, 47% of respondents said they have an unfavorable view of the NRA. Trump fared worse than either organization, with 53% of Michiganders describing their view of him as very unfavorable and another 5% saying it was somewhat unfavorable.

The polling comes after AIPAC spent roughly $30 million this year in an unsuccessful effort to defeat Abdul El-Sayed in Michigan's Democratic U.S. Senate primary. Levi Teitel, communications director for Progress Michigan, said the group's standing with voters has declined amid the ongoing war in Gaza, calling AIPAC "out of touch with the majority of Michiganders."
