MSU dairy research center opens for public visits

Michigan State University has opened its Dairy Cattle Teaching and Research Center to visitors, offering a look at how modern technology is used in milk production.

The facility allows researchers to bring in more cows, hold classes and conduct research. Animal Science Professor Barry Bradford said visitors may be surprised by the role engineering and automation now play in farm management.

Bradford said the facility opened last year and is already holding classes. Officials hope to add more exhibits to improve tours, and a grand opening is planned for October.
