Car hits school bus in Iron County, driver injured

A car rear-ended a West Iron County Public Schools bus on US 2 near Sunset Lake Road at about 7 a.m. Monday, injuring a 27‑year‑old Iron County woman.

The driver of the car was taken to Aspirus Iron River Hospital for treatment. The bus driver and the student on board were not injured.

A preliminary investigation shows the bus was stopped with its stop arm and flashing red lights activated at the time of the crash. The Iron County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by West Iron County Fire Department, Iron County Search and Rescue, Aspirus EMS, Iron County Central Dispatch, Iron River Police Department, Michigan State Police Accident Investigators and Auto Doc Towing.
