Lansing seeks public comment on senior Housing project in floodplain
The City of Lansing is seeking public comment on a proposal to use 50 housing vouchers for a senior apartment project at 927 S. Washington Ave. The Lansing Housing Commission plans to acquire and rehabilitate the vacant, 50-unit Washington Apartments for very low- and low-income seniors.
The property is in a designated floodplain. Planned work includes a floodproofed elevator, an expanded parking lot with 58 spaces and a new drive connection to Grand Avenue. The city is evaluating alternatives and potential floodplain impacts.
Written comments are due to the city by Oct. 13, 2026. Comments may also be submitted by email or phone to the contact listed by the city.
