Nigeria inflation eased in July while food costs kept rising
Nigeria’s headline inflation rate fell to 15.43% in July from 15.91% in June, according to the National Bureau of Statistics. The rate was also lower than the 24.94% recorded in July 2025.
Prices still rose during the month, with month-on-month headline inflation at 1.57%, down from 1.66% in June. Food inflation remained a major pressure point, reaching 20.31% year over year and rising to 5.56% month over month from 3.75% in June.
Inflation varied sharply by state. Adamawa had the highest year-on-year headline inflation at 33.03%, while Nasarawa had the lowest at 7.86%. Food inflation ranged from 51.36% in Adamawa to -0.31% in Borno.
