Missouri court keeps prior congressional map in place for November election

The Missouri Supreme Court on Friday rejected Secretary of State Denny Hoskins’ request to pause an order requiring the Nov. 3 congressional election to use the districts in place for the 2024 election. The ruling also leaves a referendum on a 2025 congressional map on the November ballot.

Hoskins sought time for an emergency appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court, arguing that changing the districts after the Aug. 4 primary would be technically impossible and could violate federal election law. Two county clerks told the state court the change could be made by updating the controlling map in Missouri’s voter database.
